Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh dedicated the website www.emerginghimachal.hp.gov.in developed by the department of Industries to facilitate the industrial sector in a function organised here on Friday evening. He also launched the report- ‘Rising Himachal Pradesh: A Mountain Opportunities’ prepared by PHD Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh government has taken various initiatives to give boost to the industrial sector and has been able to attract entrepreneurs in large number to invest in the state. He said the state government is following a cluster-based approach to boost the industry in the state and five industrial clusters which include pharma, food processing and corrugated boxes clusters are being set up.
He said the state government besides simplification of procedures and norms to benefit the industrialists, the government has also announced various incentives for them.
The Chief Minister appealed to the industry sector that besides investing in industrial sector, they should come forward to invest in power, tourism, horticulture, information and biotechnology where there is a vast scope of investment. He stressed that industrialists will have to ensure the quality of their products keeping in view the compitition in the global market.
Talking about the developmental parameters, Shri Virbhadra Singh said today the per capita income of the state has gone up to Rs. 1,47,277 which is Rs. 93,293 at the national level. Similarly the state has achieved 82.80 percent literacy rate, which is quite high than the national average.
President of the PHD Chamber of Commerce Shri Gopal Jiwarajka urged the state government to take further steps to providing quality facilities like better connectivity and packages for promoting investment in tourism projects. Detailing out about the vision 2020, he said the government has to emphasise on further expansion and trade in various sectors like tourism, food processing, micro, small and medium industries and information technology for encouraging development.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri AJV Prasad, Director Industries Shri Rajesh Sharma, Chairman, H.P Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
