2314 kms new road length constructed in State:CM….

Shri Vikramaditya Singh was not elected as President of the State Youth Congress by nomination but by virtue of elections in a democratic manner, said Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while addressing a public meeting at  Kumarsain in Shimla district today.

He said that after delimitation, half of the area of Kumarsain was merged with Kotgarh, but still the government felt necessary to set up SDM office at Kumarsain. He said expansion of the civil hospital at Kumarsain would be done in a phased manner.

He said that the state government was committed to strengthen the health, education and road infrastructure in the state. There were hardly 288  kilometres of road length during the formation of the state which were now around 37000 kilometres. During the last five years of this government’s regime,  around 2314 kilometres of new road length was constructed, besides 864 villages were connected with roads by constructing 215 bridges.

As far as education was concerned, we have opened new educational institutions right from primary schools to colleges in numbers and upgraded many. Though I am often criticised by the opposition for opening number of educational  institution in the State, but I believe that educating  the youth means educating the Nation as a whole to create a civilised society, he said. There were around 137 colleges in the state as of now and the present government has opened as many as 58 colleges during last five years.

He said that the government had given adequate land for opening of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the State as required by Union Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister was going to lay its foundation soon. Besides,  to strengthen the health infrastructure, around 230 new health institutions were either opened or upgraded in the state during the last five years of its regime. Other than this, Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical college at Chamba and Dr. Y. S. Parmar medical college at Nahan  had started functioning with provision of 100 MBBS seats in each college. The ESIC medical college at Ner Chowk had been taken over by the state government from the centre and it had started functioning. The Medical college at Hamirpur will soon be commissioned provided the forest clearance issues were solved, said the Chief Minister.

Remembering Rana Someshwar Singh of Kumarsain, the Chief Minister  said that there was a void after his demise and I hope the stadium constructed by his name would be utilised in a better way. He said that a fitness centre would also be constructed in the stadium for both young and old aged. He also directed for erecting a statue of Rana Someshwar Singh in the stadium complex.

State Youth Congress President, Shri Vikramaditya Singh while addressing the gathering said that the Congress believes in development and the party would not compromise when it comes to development and welfare of the people of the state. He congratulated the people for officially functioning of Sub-Divisonal Officers Office (SDM) office at Kumarsain.

He said that as unemployment was the most burning issue in the country nowdays. To provide succour to the unemployed, the Skill Development Authority was playing a pivotal role for providing training skill development courses for the unemployed for creating self employment opportunities to them. He said that technical institutions were opened in numbers in the state, which were more important for polishing the skills of the youth. The state government has started vocational courses in many senior secondary schools providing employment oriented courses to the students.

Quoting the write-up of BJP leader Shri Yashwant Sinha in media, he said that the NDA, government befooled the people on issue of employment. The NDA promised to provide employment to two crore unemployed but actually the ground reality was quite different,

He said that the loan waiver by NDA was nothing more than making fun of the farmers as the amount of waiving of the loan in few cases was as low to two to five rupees.

Vice-Chairman, HPSIDC Shri Atul Sharma said that the Chief Minister was fighting for a cause, for his people and we need to ensure the victory of Congress party under his leadership in ensuing Assembly elections.

Pradhan, Pradhan Parishad, Shri Amar Singh Nalwa, Chairperson, Panchayat Samiti, Smt. Meera, Member, BoD, HPTDC, Shri Rupesh Kanwal,were also present on the occasion amongst others.
