The US President blamed the ‘hostility’ and anger displayed by North Korea regarding the US-South Korea Max military drills for canceling the summit. “Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, l feel it is inappropriate at this time to have this long-planned meeting,” Trump said in a release.
The fate of summit had been in a lurch since North Korea threatened to cancel the meeting due to the US-South Korean ‘Max’ military drills.
It was followed by Trump’s statement through which he counter-attacked North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un saying the lack of steps taken towards denuclearisation may jeopardise the upcoming summit. Further, on Thursday, Trump wrote a letter to Kim in which he stated that due to North Korea’s hostile behavior he may delay or cancel the summit
