Pakistan’s Constitution states that elections to both national and provincial assemblies need to be held within 60 days following the day its term expires.The election will take place in 3 constituencies of the Islamabad Capital Territory followed by Punjab 141, Sindh 61, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39, Balochistan 16 and 12 constituencies in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Election schedule
- June 19: Scrutiny of nomination papers to be completed by the ROs.
- June 22: Last date for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.
- June 27: Last date for a decision on the appeals by election tribunals.
- June 28: Revised lists of nominated candidates will be published.
- June 29: Last date for withdrawal of candidature.
- June 30: The date for allocation of electoral symbols and publication of the final list of contesting candidates.
Opinion poll done by Gallup Pakistan
- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured 38 % votes. It seems to have a 13% lead over PTI.
- Pakistan Peoples Party (PTI) has secured 25% votes.
- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PPP) has gained 15% votes altogether.
- Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (F), Awami National Party (ANP) and others have managed to gain 22% votes together.
