The government’s Cyber Security adviser Alastair Macgibbon said, “This is an audacious global campaign run by a group that worked on behalf of the ministry of state security of the Chinese government.”
“We know that these managed service providers as trusted IT providers for companies and governments all around the world have unique access once they are compromised by this particular actor, Advanced Persistent Threat 10 (APT 10), working on behalf of the Chinese government they can gain access to commercial secrets,” Macgibbon further added.

Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton in a joint statement on Friday said that APT10’s “sustained cyber intrusions” were significant and a “serious concern”.

Payne also tweeted, “Australia joins with other international partners in expressing serious concern about a global campaign of cyber-enabled commercial intellectual property theft by APT10, acting on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of State Security.”
