Major step towards peace in the Korean Peninsula…

The defence chiefs of North and South Korea signed a joint statement on Wednesday as their leaders watched on.
The agreements include a promise by Kim to permanently dismantle the North’s main nuclear complex if the United States takes corresponding measures, the acceptance of international inspectors to monitor the closing of a key missile test site and launch pad and a vow to work together to host the Summer Olympics in 2032.
Calling it a major step towards peace in the Korean Peninsula, the two leaders were side by side as they announced the joint statement to a group of North and South Korean reporters after a closed-door meeting on Wednesday morning.
The two Koreas have also agreed to establish buffer zones along their land and sea borders to reduce military tensions and prevent accidental clashes Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in held their second day of summit talks in Pyongyang over the nuclear standoff and other inter-Korean issues and earlier signed a statement of their own.
