“This arrangement was confirmed by our president at his meeting with Bolton,” Ushakov told media.
Earlier in the day, Putin met with visiting US national security advisor John Bolton, who also held consultations with Russian representatives of foreign policy and military-political team.
According to Ushakov, a preliminary agreement has been reached on arranging a comprehensive and well-prepared meeting between the presidents in Paris on the sidelines of events marking the centenary of the end of World War I.
The meeting will also be attended by members of delegations from both sides, Ushakov said. This meeting is amid the continuing dispute over a key nuclear arms treaty. Trump and Putin last met in Finland in July. This meet was most notable for Mr Trump appearing to cast doubt on his own administration’s assertions that Russia had meddled in the 2016 US election.
This lead to a rare admission from Mr Trump that he misspoke.
Opponents still accused him of being too cosy with the Russian leader.A gritty Mr Trump then extended an invitation to Mr Putin to visit the US, prompting a reciprocal offer from the Russian leader.
It now looks like Paris may be a neutral venue on 11 November.
