In Tehran’s Saint Joseph church, Catholic Iranians of Assyrian ethnicity gathered for the Christmas mass.
Iranian Christians are represented in the country’s parliament and practice their religion as allowed under the constitution. That’s the case for other minorities recognised by the law, such as the Jews and Zoroastrians.

Most Iranian Christians are of the Armenian ethnicity and they are mostly adherent to the Gregorian faith, celebrating what they believe is Christ’s birth on 5 January.
