According to Orland Park Deputy Police Chief Joseph Mitchell, the victim was shot in the centre of the Orland Square Mall after which he tried to run away from the spot to save himself, however, he collapsed outside a clothing store on Monday evening.
After investigating the security video, Mitchell said that it looked that the two people involved knew each other and that the victim was targeted. The security video showed the shooter fleeing the mall but it was unclear if the suspect got into a vehicle or continued on foot.
“I want to reiterate this was an isolated incident at the Orland Square Mall. This mall is one of the safest malls in the Chicago land area. And I want to reassure them (shoppers and residents) that we are going to use every resource available to find and arrest this individual who is responsible for this case,” said Joseph Mitchell, Orland Park Deputy Police Chief
