Governor presides over annual function of national law university….

While presiding over the Annual Function of National Law University at Ghandal near Shimla, Governor Acharya Devvrat urged the students by adopting realistic approach and values in life besides education to serve the nation.

Congratulating the university on its first foundation day, the Governor said that several milestones have been set up in one year’s journey by the University, as a result students from 19 states were being studied. He said that discipline was most important aspect for any nation to run well and added that every civil society formed the rules which were followed by its citizen so that the nation could march ahead.

He said that it was expected from the students studying here to build a good society and make important contributions to the system of the country. He said that the goal of education should be developing sensitive and aware human beings with human values of compassion and kindness and added that mere knowledge of few subjects of curriculum was not adequate to achieve the real objective. He said that unless students grew into nation loving citizens, understood the values of patriotism, the country would not progress in right direction. He said that the future of the country rested on the shoulders of youth who should associate themselves with mainstream activities, come forward to work for betterment of society.

The Governor hoped that the University was to strive to be an internationally recognized leader in socially relevant legal research and education in India and abroad and to provide academically excellent, time-efficient and cost-effective legal education in the Country. He also expressed confidence that it would prepare leaders for law and law related professionals through integrated curriculum that emphasizes academic excellence and acceptability.

On this occasion, the Governor also announced Rs. 51 thousand to the University Welfare Fund.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor of National Law University Prof. S.C. Raina welcomed the Governor and briefed about various activities of the University.

Registrar Prof. S.S. Jaswal proposed vote of thanks.

Later, the Governor also participated in the plantation drive and sapling the plant in the under-construction campus of the University.
