The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) today decided to release 5 per cent additional Dearness Allowance (DA) and capital allowance, uniform and washing allowance to employees, besides granting a special pay of Rs 750 to drivers of the taxis being run by the corporation in Shimla.Transport Minister GS Bali, who presided over a meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the HRTC, said besides accepting the demands of the employees and releasing financial benefits, the corporation would also ply seven-seater electric buses on 40 routes and orders for the purchase of the buses had been placed. The scheme would be named HRTC Him Sewa.The scheme was being launched after the successful trial of electric vehicles.The HRTC would also run super-deluxe bus services with ordinary bus fare and also ply buses on 55 routes at a fixed fare of Rs 1-per km, he added.
Bali said the HRTC had released Rs 50 crore to the Public Works Department for erecting crash barriers.The 5 per cent additional DA would be paid from August 2017 while capital allowance, uniform allowance and washing allowance be hiked from Rs 275, Rs 100 and Rs 30 to Rs 400, Rs 200 and Rs 60. It would benefit 7,000 employees.Besides, remuneration of drivers trained under skill development had been raised from Rs 15 per hour to Rs 25 per hour and they would also get night allowance of Rs 70.Bali said HRTC employees had been given financial benefits to the tune of Rs 609 crore.A sum of Rs 10 crore had been released for payment of medical, overtime, night allowance, leave encashment and gratuity of employees. Pension for August had been released.During the present tenure of the government, 3,323 persons, including 1,575 drivers, were given employment,1,450 employees were promoted, 3,308 contractual employees were regularised and process was on for recruitment of 1,300 temporary multipurpose associates, he added.
