The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had emerged as the single largest party with 116 seats in general elections. The number increased to 158 in the NA after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued notifications of the successful candidates on the reserved seats for women and the minority community on August 11.

PTI chairman Imran Khan will sworn-in as the 22nd Prime Minister of the country at the President House here on Saturday. On Friday, Khan was elected as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, defeating Shehbaz . While, the 65-year-old cricketer-turned-politician bagged 176 seats, Shehbaz, the PML-N president and the brother of jailed former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, managed to secure just 96 seats.

While addressing the National Assembly after losing to Imran, Shehbaz said, “We want a third party audit into election results. We want transparency.”

Condemning the alleged rigging, Shehbaz questioned the legitimacy of the election and warned of protests by the grand opposition if the incoming government failed to address their reservations.

We won’t have other options but to take to the streets to record our protests.A political party was targeted in the election. This parliament has come to pass as a result of massive rigging. People won’t accept such results,” he said.

Khan will take oath as Prime Minister of Pakistan at the President House in Islamabad on Saturday and Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain would administer the oath to Khan
