Dushhera festival celebrated at Jakhu temple….

Traditional fervour marked the Dushhera festival at the famous Jakhu temple of Shimla today, as thousands of people gathered to witness the burning of effigies of the Lanka King, Ravana, his son Meghnaad and brother Khumbkarna to mark the victory of good over evil.

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was the chief guest on the occasion, who pressed the remote button to lit the giant statues amidst thousand of voices raising Jai Shri Ram and Jai Hanumaan slogans.

Chief Minister also paid obeisance at the Hanumaan temple located on Shimla hills at a height of around 2,455 metres. He also wished peace and happiness to the people of the state.

Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur and other trustees welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister.

Vice-Chairman, HPTDC, Harish Janartha, Deputy Mayor, Rakesh Sharma, councillors, trustees of the temple were also present on the occasion.

While talking to the media on the sidelines of the Dusshera festivities, Chief Minister said that the talks with Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi ended in a positive note and said that the Rahul Gandhi acceded to his request to come to the state and address the people at Mandi on seventh of October.
